Big Red Removals and Storage

The guys that actually moves us were great! However a couple of things got broken and BRR will not give us the contact details for the insurance company nor any details of the claim which they say they have made for us. We are still trying to get compensation over two months after our move!!!

Also we were overcharged for the move and James refuses to answer either emails or phone calls in order to sort it out.

Very frustrated and disappointed at the terrible communication.

Another wholehearted endorsement for Big Red Removals and Storage. James arranged for our property to be emptied and the contents moved to storage in preparation for wholesale renovation work. The removals team were pro-active, conscientious and diligent, making the whole process as stress free as possible. I have no hesitations in recommending this company for providing the personal service so often lacking in their larger competitors. We will definitely use Big Red again. Many thanks to all.

A poor and unsettling experience, made all the more disappointing by the fact I've used this company three times in the past and the service was previously exemplary.

I booked two removal men and a van service to move my goods around from house to storage. Service was carried out at a good speed although they did arrive an hour late from the time I requested. In general when one is contacting the sales office of this firm, replies are generally late and once I had to speak to a bookkeeper who didn't know what time my booking was confirmed for; turns out it was an hour later than I requested but with no prior notification to me. I was informed the guy who knew about the bookings "was travelling down to Wales for the weekend".

It was unfortunate that one of my removal men (the driver and leader) was surly and in a bad mood that day, and he consistently swore and complained about his workload versus his other colleagues. Responses from him to requests from me were abrupt and irritated e.g. "I know", "you don't have to tell me that", "Yes we learn that in lifting school". Things got particularly nasty when he took huge offence to me pointing out a box of expensive and fragile glassware that I didn't want placed under much heavier boxes of books. This angered him considerably and provoked a heated and unsavoury discussion where he told me that I should not telling him how to do his job, how I needed to lose the attitude, I should know how long he has been doing this, I clearly don’t know how the company works etc. I felt physically intimidated and threatened by his behaviour and had to walk away from his situation.

I find it shocking that any such person is allowed to perform in a customer service role with such a demeanour and contempt for his work and customers. I was unsettled by feeling physically threatened and overall it is a downright poor reflection that the company doesn't actually seem to care.

Working in customer service myself I've at least complained to the company first and given them time to respond. They haven't bothered to do so, simply highlighting their customer care is as pitifully lacking as their customer facing staff.

If you have to move goods and rightfully care about your belongings and expect a, at minimum courteous and timely service, do not use these guys.

This is the fourth time I have used Big Red, and every time they have been amazing. Always reliable, efficient and hard working, and get the job done with no fuss. I'd have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them, and will use them again next time I move.
July 22nd was a baking hot day. the guys arrived on time with a friendly and professional attitude, packed up our old house, loaded everything, transported everything to the new house, and put everything in the right rooms. This necessitated removing an outside door, and getting a chest of drawers through an upstairs window, which was done without fuss. Finally any furniture that had to be dismantled was re-assembled.

James sent a fantastic team of men who worked incredibly hard over two days and moved us into our new home just before Christmas, they made the whole process smooth and surprisingly fun!
Everything was packed well, and they took great care transporting everything across and into the rooms we specified.
Hopefully we won’t be moving any time soon but if we did we would definitely use them again!

Don't usually write reviews but I have to say that the service was excellent and made our moving day very stressfree. From the booking right through to invoicing I felt I was dealing with people who were on the ball and cared about the service they were delivering. This is rare! and much appreciated!  The guys were delayed getting to us on the day but I felt this was communicated professionally to us and when they did arrive were apologetic but on the ball immediately, we were loaded, moved and unloaded in great time which more than made up for the delay. The guys were great given it was a hot day and were very pleasant given what a hard job they do and with all the stairs! Everything was delivered to it's correct rooms, in perfect condition and where anything was looking awkward had a chat through first to make sure we were happy with what they were suggesting. Thank you very much would recommend to anyone who is moving - really takes a lot of pressure off and worth every penny.

I don't normally write reviews, but these guys were really friendly & hard working team. so I thought I'd give them some appreciation. The sales manager is a lovely guy, and   I instantly felt confindent as he's been in the game for many years, and found solutions to all the difficult aspects of the move, particularly with the larger & delicate items. They were prompt, packaged everything with care, and most importantly none of my items got broken! It was a very long day, but cups of tea, and a sandwich fuelled them on. I had horrible experience with that Aussie removal firm in the past, but this went smoothly and without fault. I can't recommend them highly enough! Thanks guys.

I had the unenviable task of moving 2 flats into 1 house in a day, clearly I needed to choose the right company to do this. Thankfully, I chose Big Red removals.
Right from the beginning, when their big jolly owner James came to quote, the move was a pleasure. Pleasant and very fast workers, no damages and 2 flats moved in a day by 5pm.
 
We had a packing service and all boxes were collected within a week. The price was very competitive, not the cheapest but in terms of quality and value for money - I wouldn't hesitate in recommending.

These guys moved us from London to Dorset a few weeks ago, and did an all round excellent job. The surveyor/salesman explained clearly how things would work and answered all our questions. Communication (by email) was easy, we got boxes in good time before the moving date, and the firm was able to cope with some late uncertainty about timing.

The crew packed fragile items for us, and everything was moved safely and efficiently over what was a two-day job. They even managed to fit in a lot of plants in pots from our garden which we thought might not be possible. All of them worked really hard while still finding time to be friendly and to respond to questions and requests.

Although we only got a couple of quotes the price seemed reasonable, and I would be happy to recommend this firm to others on the basis of price and service.
